ABSTRACT
This chapter will focus on the teaching of multiplication and division to children from birth to eight years. The multiple meanings behind multiplication and division will be unveiled; this will highlight the subtleties of language and the variation of expression which can be used to teach these operations. Use of practical resources and stories will be considered. We will consider mental strategies children need to manage these operations.
