ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1 I noted the surge of research studies connected to NNS English teachers, mostly conducted since the beginning of the NNS movement. Although some of these studies remain unpublished theses at the Master’s and doctoral level, many have been published as chapters in anthologies or as journal articles. In this chapter, as well as in Chapters 4 and 7, I will summarize these studies and attempt to determine their implications for NNS English teachers in particular, and to the English-language teaching profession in general. In this chapter, I will summarize the research on the self-perceptions of NNS English teachers.
