ABSTRACT

This chapter is designed to help you to identify some of the important values that underpin your work and to consider to what extent your own values are aligned with these. Managers sometime assume that the values of all the members of their team are at one with the prevalent organisational values. In practice, there are often differences that have not been recognised or understood. Assuming that values are held in common may bring difficulties because it implies that there is agreement about ways of doing things that are consistent with these values.
