ABSTRACT

This chapter looks into reparations in relation to Palestinian refugees. More specifically, the analysis will trace how reparations have featured in the diplomatic channels concerned with solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the eruption of the 1948 war. In parallel, highlighting the main scholarly endeavours related to the issue of reparations in relation to the Palestinian case complements the overall picture of the evolution of reparations to the Palestinian refugee problem over the past decades. Accordingly, the chapter looks at the main diplomatic events in the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, beginning with the efforts of the UNCCP and ending with the Road Map, the last document put forward by the international community in relation to the Middle East peace process. Incorporated is a mention of the major studies that have contributed to the scholarship focusing on the various aspects of reparations in relation to Palestinian refugees.
