ABSTRACT

The counting of the voting papers was managed by the well known French General Sebert. In October of the same year the committee thus elected met in Paris where altogether 18 long and fatiguing sittings took place. Not all those who were elected came; some had availed themselves of the right granted them by the statutes to send a deputy with power to act for them. The members who attended had the following native languages : French, German, English, Danish, Italian, Polish (Russian). The following sciences were represented : Philologv, Astronomy, Mathematics, Chemistry, Medicine, Philosophy.
