ABSTRACT

Organizational, occupational, collective and individual stress and its management are primary, strategic and operational concerns for all organizations and their managers. This is because of the direct relationship between decency and humanity, good employment practice and successful business. Stress additionally places a cost burden on organizations in all locations and sectors. There is a professional, occupational, social and human price among those who work in stressful situations or suffer from stress-related injuries and illnesses (see Box 24.1).
