ABSTRACT

The European Community (EC) is a unique political, legislative and economic system. It provides a framework for many spheres of inter- and intra-national activity. The EC must seek to strike a balance between ensuring this consistency and allowing local flexibility in meeting the wider European and even global objectives for environmental conservation. The EC operates in a series of ways, in co-operation with national government. In all countries throughout Europe, the agricultural industry has maintained a strong political presence.
