ABSTRACT
The backcasting approach we have used in this book requires targets for sustainable mobility as inputs to the process. These targets are used for designing images of the future and for assessing the impact of policy measures, paths and packages. Targets for environmental protection, regional development targets, and economic efficiency are included. The environmental targets are most compelling since the sustainable use of the ecosystem is a necessary condition for social and economic development.
