Writing the Secondary School Report
Writing the Secondary School Report (SSR) or the counselor letter is one of the most important challenges that the college advisor encounters. As the advocate for the student, the counselor should present the student’s high school record in the best possible manner. This letter not only highlights a student’s achievements but also places these accomplishments in a context that makes the reader understand their importance. Additionally, the SSR addresses any unusual family or personal circumstances that may affect a student’s performance. In effect, this letter makes the student come alive to an admissions committee.
