Advising Students With Learning Disabilities About College

This chapter first focuses generally on important background knowledge, planning, and strategies that counselors might want to consider in working with students with learning disabilities. We then present a more specific discussion on evaluating the qualifications for extended time in standardized testing and on ascertaining whether students should attend mainstream colleges or more specialized college programs. Finally, we suggest when counselors should advise students to have reevaluations and why and when to send the testing evaluation to colleges.
