ABSTRACT

The scholarship in this volume addresses the dynamics of US-China-EU relations. China’s growing power and influence, the potentially important role of the European Union in international affairs and the many challenges to American supremacy will inevitably have major implications on twenty-first century international politics. In this context, this chapter considers each power centre’s distinct conception of and preferences for the future world order, how the interactions within triangular diplomacy can promote cooperation, and how the United States, China and the European Union can manage conflicts of interests on a wide range of global security and economic issues. The conclusion considers the impact of US-China-EU relations on the emerging international order.
