Peru and Chile: The challenge of playing a determinant role in multilateral Pacific fora

In 2008, Peru, a small actor on the international scene, hosted two major international meetings that placed the country for at least two or three days at the top of the international agenda.1 These events also represented a unique opportunity to show the world the economic development that has taken place in Peru in the last ten years and it offered the country the chance to boost its tourism-related industry as well, especially towards Asia.
