Health and Safety at Work Act An Act promulgated in 1974, relating to the UK, and intended to provide a broad framework for health and safety measures. It supplements previous related legislation. The Act established a Health and Safety Executive and Commission and introduces Improvement and Prohibition Notices as alternative enforcement methods to prosecutions. Additionally it covers matters relating to the maintenance of the Employment Medical Advisory Services and the promulgation of Building Regulations.
