ABSTRACT

I t is serendipitous that I was asked to write a chapter on the loss of safety for women and children who have experienced abuse. It has evolved into an area of interest, of query and conjectures of a clinical practice that has developed over the last decade. This chapter is an attempt to pull together thoughts on the topic, combining the experiential and a journey through the literature and research.
