ABSTRACT
This chapter investigates the justifications for, and practice of, intervention in Afghanistan in 2001, following the attacks of 9/11 against the US. The chapter begins with a brief background discussion of the Taliban government of Afghanistan and 9/11, it then moves to an analysis of the justifications made for the US intervention and the practice of the intervention, and concludes with a discussion of the implications of the intervention for international society.
