ABSTRACT

The previous two chapters examined the diplomatic and financial regionalist policy of post-war Japan. The main empirical findings were that the Japanese government had demonstrated strong interest in Asian-only groupings in the field of diplomacy and finance throughout the post-war period, although the US was sometimes included as a non-regional member in a regional financial framework in order to reduce the financial burden on Japan.
