ABSTRACT

A couple of summers ago I decided to sit in on a graduate level Education course called Gender and Education. On the first day, the professor asked the students to write down their answers to the following question: How would your life be different if you had been born the other sex? The student complement of this class was fourteen women and five men. We went around the room and read our answers. I do not remember what the men wrote, but twelve of the women indicated that if they had been born male they would have been able to participate more in sports.
