ABSTRACT
Why is there a chapter about the ancient economy in a book about the New Testament? It is because the economy affects every other aspect of life (family, religion, community, work, health, and politics). Further, there are numerous direct references and allusions to economic issues in the New Testament. Scholars are now realizing that we cannot understand the New Testament without some attention to the subject.
