ABSTRACT

Intimacy between members is the hallmark of a cohesive unit. A group in which members can share important aspects of their personal lives has to be cohesive in order to make such sharing possible. As the group members become more open in their honest disclosure of deeply felt emotions or details of their private lives, their group becomes increasingly cohesive. The mutual reinforcement of sharing and cohesiveness is one of the distinguishing properties of a well-functioning group.
