ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses social action research as a methodology that encourages those affected by or with an interest in the issues being researched (be they service users, community members, service providers, managers etc.) to identify issues for attention and have an active role right through a research project. It introduces the ideas behind social action research and shows how the approach was used in a research project with a group of foster carers.
