CHARACTER: ‘Let me play the lion too’

Now here’s a challenge! Imagine yourself in the following three situations. First, you are about to make your entrance in a tragedy in the year 499  in one of the great theatres of ancient Greece, in Athens or, perhaps, at Epidauros. Second, you are awaiting your cue to enter, backstage at the Globe Theatre, Southwark in London in 1599. Third, you are standing in the darkened wings of the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square, London in 1999.
