ABSTRACT

Modern management education is a rather recent phenomenon in China; however, the embryonic start should not mislead anyone about the intensity and dynamics of competition. Management training and development grosso modo had longer to evolve and emerged incrementally in the United States over the past century and into the present; China’s experience base is less than 25 years, but the ‘catch-up’ is underway (see Chapter 1 by Goodall and Warner in this volume).
