ABSTRACT

As globalization in the form of mergers, alliances, and joint ventures continues to increase, it is critical to understand the staffing practices of global executives. Global executives lead, direct, and inspire employees in different cultures to achieve strategic goals for organizations (Schuler, 2001). The focus of this chapter is to provide a detailed understanding of the staffing practices of the CEO, Vice-President, and all directors below the Vice-President (or the equivalent to these titles) in US-Mexican joint ventures located in Mexico and the US. This chapter also provides a description of executive staffing practices in US-Mexican joint ventures, identified for the first time in the US literature.
