ABSTRACT

Monica McGoldrick is an internationally known family therapist and co-author of two of the most widely consulted texts in family therapy: Genograms (3 rd edn with Randy Gereson and Sueli Petry) and The Expanded Life Cycle (4 th edn with Betty Carter). She is the director, of the Multicultural Family Institute of New Jersey in Highland Park, New Jersey. She conducts training for beginning family therapists and also consults with families. Her books include: The Genogram Journey: Reconnecting with your Family , Re-Visioning Family Therapy (2 nd edn), Ethnicity and Family Therapy (3 rd edn), Women in Families , and Living Beyond Loss (2 nd edn). She has held faculty positions in the Psychiatry Department of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and at Fordham University School. She as received an Honorary Doctorate, Smith College School for Social Work in 1991, and was awarded the American Family Therapy Academy Award in 1998 for Distinguished Contribution to Family Therapy Theory and Practice.
