ABSTRACT

High-performance organizations-such as MNEs-care a great deal about the performance of their employees, teams, projects, business units, as well as of the overall organization. They work hard to align job expectations with the strategic intent of the organization and rely on highly competent and engaged employees and teams to achieve their objectives. Measuring the performance of individuals and teams becomes an important tool to ensure organizational performance and identify possible gaps to be closed. Hence, the establishment of an employee performance management (PM) system is an integral component of managing the talent of an MNE. In addition, employee PM is linked to other HR activities such as job analysis, total rewards, learning and development, and talent deployment. It is the design and management of this employee PM system as practiced in MNEs around the world that is the focus of this chapter.
