ABSTRACT

This last chapter deals with three critical yet seldom reported on aspects of IHRM strategy and structure: concern for the well-being of the MNE’s global work force, development and maintenance of the global HR information system, and the structure and delivery of today’s IHR programs in the MNE. All three of these areas of concern are central to IHR’s ability to deliver on its vision of making a major contribution to the MNE’s competitive advantage in the global marketplace. And taken together they provide an important conclusion for the themes of this book, with a look at both the practical side of IHRM and a focus on the way that MNEs are struggling to find ways to deliver strategic support while delivering the necessary IHRM services within acceptable metrics.
