ABSTRACT

Answer When Arthur entered the premises, he was a lawful visitor under licence to be on the premises (see, for example, Robson v Hallett (1967)), but at the point that Billie asked him to leave, he was required to leave the pizzeria, as his licence to be present had been revoked. A bare licence, such as that to enter the shop to make a purchase or communicate with the owner, may be revoked at will provided that notice is given (Stone v Taffe (1974)) and after a reasonable time, the licensee, Arthur, becomes a trespasser by virtue of his continued presence in the pizzeria having been asked to leave.
