ABSTRACT

Radical psychiatry was developed by Claude Steiner and Hogie Wyckoff in Berkeley, California in the late 1960s. It was heavily in¯uenced by the works of Karl Marx, Wilhelm Reich and R. D. Laing (who wrote about the negative impact of oppression on the psyche) which were combined with TA theory, particularly its tools for analysing the transactional, person-to-person mechanisms of oppression and liberation.
