ABSTRACT
Group psychotherapy is the main therapeutic method in the radical psychiatry approach. Exploring oppression and the mysti®cations that support oppression through `consciousness raising' (awareness) is a key method. Demsyti®cation of the oppressiveness of racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, class prejudice and other oppressive systems involving developing awareness of discounting and power plays as they manifest in the activities of the group is also used.
