ABSTRACT

In his biography, Pipín Ferreras recounts the world record free diving attempt made by his student and wife, Audrey Mestre, that ends tragically with her death – a death that Ferreras admits he was, in some part, responsible for. Ferreras was Mestre’s coach and mentor, and while she freely chose to participate in such a dangerous sport, it was, as he acknowledges, his own relentless competitive spirit that encouraged Audrey time and again to push the limits of human capability.
