ABSTRACT

A girl of seven and her four-year-old brother have just been through the gruesome business of house-hunting with their parents. In the tedious trail from one property to another, all of which seem perfectly adequate to the children, they become bored, irritable and confused. When they return home, though, they are overheard playing together in the living room of their existing home. ‘This is the living room,’ says the girl. ‘Over here you can see we have got a radiator and down there is an electric plug.’ ‘I see,’ replies the boy, ‘I like this house.’
