ABSTRACT

Then he got dressed, had his breakfast, put on his coat and stepped out of the

house. He bought a newspaper from the corner shop and also a bar of

chocolate, which he thought he’d eat on the way to work because he didn’t

bother to make himself breakfast. He stopped to look through the window of

the DVD rental shop on the High Street and thought he might watch a movie

after work that night. Then he took his usual route through the park. He had

just reached the other side when a car with blacked-out windows screeched to a

halt beside him. Two men scrambled out on to the pavement, grabbed him and

bundled him back inside. The car shot away down the road even before the rear

door was pulled closed.
