Johann Gaspar Spurzheim: Hereditary descent and the prevention of crime, 1828

Johann Gaspar Spurzheim, the eminent phrenologist whose work was previously extracted in Chapter 4, first published his book on education, A View of the Elementary Principles of Education, in 1821, in Edinburgh, Scotland, a city where phrenology flourished. The book was reprinted many times thereafter. I used the 1828 edition (London: Treuttel, Wurtz, and Richter), pp. 41-52 and 280-4.
