ABSTRACT
In the present chapter my intention is to examine the role and status of intuition and introspection as presented in studies on semantic prosody, and then to examine their role and status in specifi c corpus searches. By so doing I hope to point out a discrepancy between the perceived importance and the actual importance of intuition and introspection in corpus studies in general. I shall begin by considering the notion of intuition.
