ABSTRACT

Having hopefully now persuaded you that there are sound reasons for undertaking a pedagogical action research project, how do you actually go about it? In this chapter I will describe the stages that you will need to take, by illustrating them with an example from a study I did a few years ago and using a hypothetical example. This is to show you how a single research question can be investigated in very different ways, depending on the research paradigm you are using and the approach you feel most comfortable with. This issue will be taken up in more detail in Chapters 6 to 8, when I describe research methods and analysing your data but, for now, I want to show you how to make a start.
