ABSTRACT

Runner: Our next presenter tells also about a multi-modal dissertation using collage. Kathleen Vaughan is a visual artist, writer, scholar, and teacher whose work takes a postmodern, postcolonial slant on thematics such as identity and belonging; memory, storytelling, and the cultural artifact; and spirit of place. Intrigued by the application of fine arts methods to scholarship, she is elaborating collage as a framework for interdisciplinary research/creation/ pedagogy. She teaches in the Faculty of Education at York University (Toronto), at the Ontario College of Art and Design, and through visiting artist programs in Toronto schools.
