ABSTRACT

When midwifery students arrive at university for the first day of orientation, each person has a unique story. Interest in midwifery as a profession will have been stimulated in different ways. For some, it will be the next step following secondary education; for others it will be a career change. University life holds many challenges and balancing academic, professional and personal demands can be onerous. As adult learners the motivation is personal and tangible, but on the pathway the midwife in education will facilitate the individual and nurture teamwork.
