ABSTRACT
Th e “Social Studies Is Everywhere” assignment was born out of sheer frustration. As I was doing fi nal preparation for my upcoming social studies class, I was pondering what I could say or do to inspire students to return from spring break having read the assigned material and prepared to participate actively. I have always dreaded that fi rst class aft er an extended vacation –extra time is needed to regroup and students oft en seem to be mentally elsewhere. Suddenly, I had a fl icker of what I now think of as brilliance –only because it has produced amazing results.
