ABSTRACT
Th is chapter shows how curriculum development based on social studies concepts and processes is enhanced by incorporating children’s literature, engaging naturally with realia, and constructing culturally rich analogies by completing graphic organizers. Teacher candidates are enlightened to see how curriculum fi ts together in a meaningful fashion. Th is learning experience also models an eff ective teaching strategy that teacher candidates can adapt easily and share with learners of all ages in their future classrooms.
