ABSTRACT
No one contributed more to the psychoanalytic understanding of narcissism and narcissistic disorders in the second half of the twentieth century than Herbert Rosenfeld. His brilliant clinical accounts have in¯uenced many, and his ideas about the nature of narcissistic disorders have been incorporated into the thinking of many psychoanalysts.
