ABSTRACT

MIGRATION AND RELIGION Migration has become one of the major

societal issues of late modern western

countries. Certainly, migration as a

movement of people, ideas, goods and

skills dates back into prehistory. And

certainly, migration and immigration

form only one among many other

pressing issues of the current global age,

alongside impoverishment of large sec-

tions of the world population; high rates

of unemployment and illiteracy in many

countries; AIDS infection to a growing

extent; ongoing and new wars, and glo-

bal warming. Like these and many more

hot topics, the issue of migration fills the

headlines of national and international

news.
