ABSTRACT

New technologies can provide the missing link that turns unobtainable ideas and dreams into a reality, and often a new product or technology when introduced will have impacts on other products. Think, for example, how refrigerators and freezers changed our attitude about food storage. This led to new food-storage products such as plastic-sealed bags. New technologies enable us to come up with solutions to problems, but they also create new problems. For example, an improved design of an engine, which enables cars to travel at greater speeds, will create a need for more powerful braking systems. The greater use of computers has created a problem of neck and back strain and a need for ergonomically designed office furniture.
