ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter summarises and integrates the overarching key themes from the two substantive sections of the textbook. First, it highlights how towns and cities have changed over the past 60 years as explored in Section I. Second, based on Section II, it gives an overall critique of successive periods of urban regeneration policy looking at problems, lessons and potential barriers to future success. Third, an assessment of thematic approaches to urban regeneration in the UK derived from Section III is presented. Finally, the chapter seeks to identify forthcoming developments in urban regeneration within policy and academic spheres.
