The Case Studies: An Introduction: Lee Hood, Lynn Schofield Clark, Joseph G. Champ, and Diane F. Alters

The chapters that follow tell the stories of eight families who engaged in media in various ways, with sometimes widely divergent reflections on media. They are presented in case-study fashion to indicate as best we can the context in which each family spoke with us. This introduction discusses the concepts we developed to try to make sense of what families told us, and we illustrate those concepts with examples from families that for the most part do not appear in the case studies.
