ABSTRACT
Design is interpretive, not least in the play of making. The traditional potter allows the pot to disclose itself in its creation. The pot is not pre-thought and then made, but made in the making. The potter does not manipulate an object, but becomes one with the materials and the movements involved in its making, and the making continues even after it has left the hands of the potter, as the characteristics of the materials further reveal themselves.
