ABSTRACT
T he simplicity of radio is one of its greatest assets. At its most basic all it requires is a microphone and a transmitter to take to the airwaves, although even the smallest stations have considerably more equipment than that. The
purpose of this chapter is not to provide a comprehensive list of equipment used in radio, but to explain how certain key pieces are used to produce the sophisticated sound we all take for granted on the radio.
