ABSTRACT

According to Lessig the term “permission culture” is the opposite of a “free culture.” “Free” in this sense means that one can use the idea, technology or know-how without the permission of anyone else (Lessig 2004). To be more specifi c, a permission culture is a scenario in which creators are allowed to create only with the permission of creators from the past. It is the opposite of the democratization of user-innovation, as it refers to selective rather than universal user-innovation.
