ABSTRACT

Stanislavski discussed Tempo-rhythm in terms of the relationship between ‘inner Tempo-rhythm’; feelings and experiences and ‘outer Tempo-rhythm’; physical action and speech.2 He described Temporhythm as a ‘two-edged sword . . . helpful and harmful in equal measures’ as a consequence a warning to any training actor that Tempo-rhythm cannot be a reliable tool.3
