ABSTRACT

My area of interest has been the perception and experience of research by dance/movement therapists. I have been conducting research, teaching research to dance/movement therapy (DMT) students and working with the Research Subcommittee of the American Dance erapy Association for many years. My research ndings and professional experiences have compelled me to promote and develop research methods that resonate with the values, work experiences, skills, and ways of knowing of my students and colleagues. I have come to believe that promoting methodological diversity will facilitate participation in research. Despite the continuing

call for quantiable outcome and ecacy research results, which I also support, I still advocate for the greatest breadth of research options. e reader will no doubt perceive these biases toward a exible and evolving understanding of research methodologies throughout this chapter.
