ABSTRACT

Once school psychologists’ coalition has a clear understanding of issue, the next step is to develop a plan. Intervention mapping is the stage of planning at which psychologists are finalizing their logic model. Prevention services can be provided at different levels to meet the greatest number of student needs. As a final temporal element, psychologists want to consider the order of implementation. The term evidence-based practice refers to programs or interventions that are not only based on sound scientific knowledge but also have been demonstrated to be effective through rigorous research. A more sophisticated method of defining an intervention is Intervention Configuration Mapping. In addition to making vital decisions about who, when, and how of psychologists plan, they also must develop clear lines of communication about the plan itself. School systems are hierarchical bureaucracies that can be resistant to change. The Public Health Problem-Solving Model assumes shared power and responsibility in change.
